Suzhou City and Riga City of Latvia celebrate the 20th anniversary of their friendship, with leaders from both cities planting ginkgo trees together at the International Friendship Garden in the Panmen Scenic Area.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the friendship between Suzhou and Riga, Latvia. This morning, leaders from both cities gathered at the Panmen Scenic Area International Friendship Park to plant ginkgo trees together, commemorating the friendship between the two cities.
Riga is an ancient and beautiful city in Europe, with a history of over 800 years and rich cultural heritage resources. The city has a population of over 800,000 and covers an area of 307 square kilometers.
In September 1997, Suzhou and Riga officially established a sister city relationship. Over the past 20 years, the two cities have continuously deepened exchanges and cooperation in cultural and other fields. The ginkgo trees symbolize the enduring friendship between the two cities!
In fact, the trees in the International Friendship Park at the Panmen Scenic Area were all planted as memorial trees by friendly individuals from both domestic and international backgrounds. Additionally, there are friendly gifts from various countries and cities scattered throughout, including a gondola gifted by Venice, Italy; a friendly gift from Portland, USA - the Portland Cabin; and the Constance sailboat gifted by Konstanz, Germany.
