Every year on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month is the Double Ninth Festival, also known as the Chongjiu Festival, the Autumn Sun Festival, or "Treading on Autumn". Celebrations for the Double Ninth Festival generally include activities such as going out to enjoy the autumn scenery, climbing high to gaze afar, admiring chrysanthemums, wearing dogwood, eating Double Ninth cake, and drinking chrysanthemum wine.
The Double Ninth Festival was already established during the Warring States period and was officially recognized as a folk festival during the Tang Dynasty, continuing through the ages to this day. The ninth day of the ninth lunar month in 1989 was designated as Senior Citizens' Day, advocating for the whole society to foster a culture of respecting, honoring, loving, and assisting the elderly.
Once again, on the Double Ninth Festival, all employees of the Panmen Scenic Area wish all elderly people happiness, health, peace, and good fortune!
