Ruiguang Pagoda

The Ruiguang Pagoda was built in the tenth year of the Chuwu era, constructed by Sun Quan, the Emperor of Eastern Wu, to repay his mother's kindness. It is the earliest ancient tower in Suzhou, standing thirteen stories tall. The existing Ruiguang Pagoda was renovated in 1004 AD and still preserves the architectural style of ancient towers from the Tang and Song dynasties. Among the artifacts excavated from within the tower are a treasure stupa wooden box, Buddhist scriptures, stone Buddhas, and stone bases, among which the pearl relic stupa is a national treasure, currently housed in the Suzhou Museum, serving as the museum's prized possession.
